Forego the busy National Park crowds and day-tourists at the Indian Reservation and spend the day at play at the Bar 10 Ranch, located at the Grand Canyon’s remote North Rim (a Vision Exclusive).
The Bar 10 is an authentic working cattle ranch high in the so-called Arizona Strip territory (bordered by the Grand Canyon on one side and Utah to the North). In late fall and winter, 1,000 head of cattle graze at the Bar 10 Ranch, replaced in the spring and summer by tourists from Las Vegas seeking pure mountain air and an adrenaline rush from zooming 8 miles and back to the Canyon's North Rim in a Hummer or on an ATV (additional fee; complimentary van transport to the Rim).
Follow your guide up a short Nature Trail at the rim and throw a rock into Echo Promontory, a natural hole several hundred feet deep. The sound of your rock hitting the various plateaus ricochets off the walls. Now, yell! Your voice repeats over and over, thrilling city-dwellers and suburban fun-seekers alike.
Lunch is extra special at the Bar 10 Ranch. Your BBQ sandwich is made from ranch-grown beef. After your meal (included with the tour), rustle up a shotgun and shoot some skeet, play ping-pong, or beach volleyball, or just look at the unusual collection of desert critters housed at the ranch's Nature Center (yes, that is a living, breathing rattlesnake!).
Your 35-minute flight to and from Las Vegas is a flight-seeing adventure in itself. From the all-window seat Dornier 228 turboprop, you will see (and can take aerial photos) of Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Nellis Air Force Base, the skyline of the Las Vegas Strip, and the Mohave Desert.
This package is only offered April through October. Call for availability.
